October 3rd to October 6th, 2024

The Tour de Pines, sponsored by Pinelands Preservation Alliance, celebrates Pinelands Month in October. This year we offer four single-day bicycle tours of the New Jersey Pinelands. Proceeds benefit the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, a nonprofit organization working to protect the resources of New Jersey Pinelands since 1989. There is no other bike ride like this in New Jersey!

All routes start & finish in the same location; participants provide their own transportation, food, and lodging as these are unsupported rides.  Although the rides are self-guided, we will provide each participant with:

  • Cue Sheets
  • GPS Files
  • Free Access to the Ride with GPS App
  • Instructions that contain details about the rides

Partnering with kermesse sport:

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance is pleased to work with Kermesse Sport to organize the Tour de Pines, which allows us to continue to offer high-quality events for you to enjoy.  They have been involved in event organization for more than 30 years and are best known for their World Class Hell of Hunterdon event, which is one of the oldest gravel cycling events in the US.

Distances on routes are subject to change if road conditions warrant.

NO WHINING RIDE

Start/Finish location: Laurita Winery 85 Archertown Rd, New Egypt NJ 08533

Both Routes start and finish at Laurita Winery, which is located at the edge of the Pine Barrens. Scenic areas in both Ocean and Monmouth counties may be enjoyed, including many agricultural, tree, and horse farms. The route passes through Colliers Mills and Assunpink Wildlife Management Areas (WMA), as well as a visit to Historic Walnford, a Monmouth County Park. Be prepared for some rolling terrain and a few steep hills! This ride crosses the Union Transportation Trail (a relatively new “rails-to-trails” that is also a part of the Monmouth County Parks System), and this trail could be a ride for another day. After your ride, stay a while to sample Laurita’s wine and enjoy the atmosphere of this unique place!

BLUEBERRY FIELDS FOREVER
Start/Finish location: Whitehorse Winery 106 Hall Street, Hammonton NJ 08037

Both routes start at Whitehorse Winery.  Discover why Hammonton and surrounding Atlantic County is known as the “Blueberry Capital of the World”.  Start in rural, southern Camden County and ride into Atlantic County and Burlington County.  In addition to blueberry farms, points of interest include the Mullica River and Makepeace Lake Wildlife Management Area, old churches, and homemade pies!  Visit the winery after your ride and try their latest offerings.

SOUTH OF THE BORDER
Start/Finish location: Belleplain State Forest, 1 Henkinsifkin Road Woodbine, NJ, 08270

New for 2024, we are going South of the Border!  This ride starts at beautiful Lake Nummy in Belleplain State Forest, and travels mostly quiet roads through Woodbine, Tuckahoe, and along the Dennis and Middle Township bike paths, through Cape May Court House (the county seat of Cape May County).  It follows a portion of the southern border of the Pine Barrens, and returns to Belleplain via Goshen and historic Dennisville.
